Just saw Wish, and I loved it! It’s a great story that has tons of little tiny references to Disney lore and princess stories.
The music is also great. I felt like “This Wish” or “I’m a Star” was intended to be the next Let It Go/We Don’t Talk About Bruno-level popularity. The Wish music is fast paced and really digs into emotion, the same as those songs. For the villain song This Is The Thanks I Get, I felt strong connections to the Lion King song Be Prepared – they’re both about lamenting the injustices they feel they’re being delivered (for Wish: “I give and give and give and give” / for Lion King: “And injustice deliciously squared” ) and simultaneously a promise for a better future for the villain character.
I don’t want to spoil the story, but I strongly recommend seeing this movie. It starts out fast and fun with the Welcome to Rosas song, and ends on a high note with the villain punished and the heroine getting an interesting role – not quite a princess title, but something even better :-). The movie is fun, it’s energetic, beautifully animated (I loved Star and his little emotions and his playing-around). A strong recommend to see.
