Everyone including me is watching Hurricane Ian push its’ way to Florida – I’ve been fixated most of the day watching Key West and other Florida live cameras such as this one:
But today I wanted to opine on the recent AllEars video on the best Disney restaurants in every park. See it here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uWnLvoEb8Rg .
For Magic Kingdom, they recommend Skipper Canteen and Liberty Tree Tavern as best table service restaurants. Honestly, any list that doesn’t include the Be Our Guest restaurant is very suspect to me. Be Our Guest takes place in a set of 3 gorgeously decorated dining halls, plus has food that is at least the equal of other restaurants. The styling and atmosphere alone make it a must-do. Both Skipper Canteen and Liberty Tree Tavern are great, but going to Magic Kingdom and then not going to either Be Our Guest or Cinderella’s Royal Table (the only two restaurants themed after magic castles) seems to defeat the point of visiting MK to me.
For me, I like going to Columbia Harbour House rather than Liberty Tree Tavern. Admittedly they serve slightly different cuisine (Columbia Harbour House is a New England seafood type of place, Liberty Tree Tavern is a more Thanksgiving, meat and potatoes type of feel) but I think both restaurants fill the niche of plenty of hearty, good food that will fill you up.
For best fast food in Magic Kingdom, I like Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Cafe. I like it so much that occasionally – when I stayed at The Contemporary resort (walking distance from Magic Kingdom) – I periodically went to Cosmic Ray’s for dinner instead of dining at the hotel. The Contemporary has fantastic dining options, but something about eating while listening to Sonny Eclipse is so relaxing.
The rest of the video is surprisingly good – their recommendations in Animal Kingdom are identical to what I like: Yak & Yeti, Tusker House, Satu’li are all excellent choices. I’d trade out Flame Tree Barbecue for Restaurantosaurus though. Same with Hollywood Studios – I particularly liked that they mentioned Ronto Roasters, great place for breakfast with their wraps.
Epcot is a hard choice because there are so many amazing restaurants there. I personally would include Teppan Edo (in the Japanese pavilion) and the Coral Reef Restaurant as fantastic sit down options. For fast food I love that they mention Sunshine Seasons because it’s an incredible restaurant, but I would also tack on Connections Cafe which is a really delicious place with tons of options. I also love that it’s a very well-lit place with its huge windows.
